You Can Now Preorder The iPhone XR

The launch of the iPhone XS and XS Max may have stolen all of the column inches, but many people are more interested in the lower-priced iPhone XR, which the company is releasing slightly after the other two handsets.

Starting at £749 (Apple’s definition of ‘cheap’ is obviously a little different from that of its Android-based rivals), the iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch ‘Liquid Retina’ LCD screen with a 1792×828 pixel resolution – that’s not quite 1080p, but it should still be perfectly fine for most people.

Available in six different colours – black, white, red, yellow, blue and coral – the phone comes with an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and is packing the same A12 Bionic chipset that powers the XS and XS Max. There’s only a single camera on the back though, although Apple says it’s capable of the same bokeh tricks as its siblings. It also includes the FaceID camera for security – once again, there’s no fingerprint scanner here, as Apple has all but abandoned that kind of technology in its phones.

The phone launches on 26th October and is available in the following storage variants:

  • 64GB: £749
  • 128GB: £799
  • 256GB: £899
