iPhone-owning O2 customers can download and use Sky’s Mobile TV app for free for the first three months.
Sky Mobile TV lets you watch a number of Sky Sports channels and Sky News over Wi-Fi. The app works off a live stream, so you’re getting about as up-to-date coverage as you would by watching a normal Sky Box.
Because of the amount of data needed in video streaming, you’ll only be able to watch these channels over Wi-Fi, but that’s the norm for this sort of video app.
If this sounds like it’ll be up your street, you’d better head over to the App Store soon. Only 150,000 of you will be able to take Sky up on this three-months-free offer. It may sound like a lot, but consider the 1-billion+ downloads achieved so far by Apple’s not-so-little app factory, that figure starts to sound a lot smaller.
After the first three months, you’ll be charged £6 per month to use the app, which is still a lot less than you’d pay for the Sports Package on a normal Sky subscription.
