Motorola confirmed its undying commitment to Android this week with the announcement of seven Android devices – the Bravo, Citrus, Defy, DROID Pro, Flipout, Flipside and Spice. We’ve already seen a couple of the handsets (Defy and Flipout) but there’s quite a few we haven’t heard as well – looks like Motorola’s been very busy…
The seven device are not ‘high-end’ handsets, though. So don’t go getting too excited. Instead, Motorola is aiming them at first time smartphone users and “yoofs” – apparently, these are demographics are the new lifeblood of Android.
Here’s a break down of the devices specs:
3.7-inch WVGA touch screen display, 3-megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, Android 2.1
Android 2.1, 3-inch QVGA screen, 3-megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack
Motorola DROID Pro
This device has been described as the outcome of what might happen if BlackBerry ever met Android, which certainly sounds intriguing!
It’s specs include: full QWERTY keyboard, World Roaming Capabilities, 3.1-inch screen, increased security measures as well as advanced E-Mail and Calendar options running atop Android 2.1.
This is a water, dust and drop resistant device that is designed to withstand all that the world can throw at it. It’s a touchscreen device, features Android 2.1 and will, no doubt, be very reasonably priced.
Android-powered and eminently quirky. The Flipout should be a hit with teenagers and users that demand something a little different from their handsets. Here’s the specs:
Android 2.1, 2.8-inch display, 3.5mm headset jack, FM radio, 3-megapixel camera.
The Flipside is a standard slider with CLIQ-like keyboard buttons. It’s aimed at users that aren’t completely convinced by the touchscreen phenomenon and still enjoy the feel of a nice keyboard. The specs are as follows:
Android 2.1, 3.1-inch screen, 3MP camera, 3.5mm headset jack, FM Radio.
According to Motorola, the Spice is aimed at the Latin phone markets, which is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. Here’s the specs:
Android 2.1 on a 3-inch QVGA screen, has a 3MP camera, 3.5mm headset jack
