One of the smartest-looking Walkman phones around, the W705 is also one of the first to come equipped with Wi-Fi and HSPA high speed mobile data connectivity. Using Wi-Fi, you can connect to the internet at high speed via a home, work or public Wi-Fi access point.
Wi-Fi on the W705 is easy to set up and use. Just switch on Wi-Fi in range of a suitable access point, and once connected, you can launch the phone's browser or use other online applications as normal.
As well as fast-moving web browsing, you can get high speed connections to online services, for both downloading and uploading content such as images, video and music. The W705 comes pre-loaded with links to a variety of services, including YouTube, BBC iPlayer, Blogger, and Sony Ericsson's own PlayNow download portal.
Your W705 will also save your Wi-Fi network(s)' settings as favourites, with an auto connect facility so after the initial quick connection procedure there's no more fuss getting hooked up each time you want to use it.
As well as getting secure and reliable internet connections, using Wi-Fi, you can also avoid any potential data costs incurred by mobile network data use, so you won't have to think about mobile bills when watching the latest YouTube clips or streaming TV programmes to your phone.
Here, we how you how to set up a Wi-Fi connection. This procedure can be repeated for all the networks as you regularly use.
Setting up and using Wi-Fi

- In the list of Wi-Fi networks, the network you have selected will be marked with a star, and the auto connect status will be displayed (Figure 9).
