"With the Sony Ericsson Walkman conveyor belt in full pelt, it's refreshing to see the manufacturer keeping things new. With its gesture control, OLED screen and funky colour schemes, the W380 is likely to appeal more to a younger audience than the early adopter. The internal screen is a tad small but overall the Sony Ericsson W380 is no runt."

“With its purple-livery, the W380i will catch the eye rather than the headlines. But if the belt is tight and you need a decent music phone at an attractive pre-pay price, then this Walkman clamshell is definitely worth a listen.”

“The camera here is disappointing for a mobile maker that also boasts Cyber-shot branded camera-centric phones, and some users may recoil at the lack of video capture and other missing frills. Elsewhere, however, standard features are reasonably well represented. It may not have it all – you’d expect compromises at this sort of price - but the W380i still manages to deliver where it counts as a Walkman music mobile, with a fine quality audio performance that’s astonishingly good for such an affordable handset.”

“The phone comes with a gesture control feature which allows the user to simply move their hand above the handset to either mute an incoming call or to activate the snooze feature on their alarm clock. The W380i is full of fun & easy to use features, which will appeal to the mobile phone user."

“Sony Ericsson has at least managed to give the W380i a twist of design brio to lift its look above the run-of-the-mill. Its external controls and screen combo make it practical as well as eye-catching. The W380i is an attractive package for music mobile buyers on a tight budget. Sure, it has its limitations, but its music playback performance is most definitely still on the money.”
