John Murphy
The fatcory default PIN for the W300i is 1111
Check out our advice on how to lock your Sony Ericsson W300i to save you from a whopping bill if it's lost or stolen
Locking the SIM Card
Some phones come with the SIM card locked and your network will provide the PIN code to activate it. If not, or you want to change your PIN code then go to:
- Menu
- Settings
- General
- Locks.
If you want to switch off the SIM lock:
- Select “Protection”
- Then ON or OFF.
- You will then be asked for your PIN code.
- If you are setting this up for the first time then the factory default PIN is 1111.
- If you want to change the PIN you will be asked for the old PIN first and then the new PIN.
- If you put the wrong PIN number in three times the SIM card will lock up and you will have to contact your network and get the PUK – personal unlock code – to get the SIM card working again.
Automatic mode: If you select Automatic from the lock menu then you will only need to put the PIN code in when you change SIM cards
Locking the phone
To lock you phone go to:
- Menu
- Settings
- General
- Locks
- Select phone lock
- Select protection, the default PIN code is 0000.
- If you change the PIN code then you will have to remember this number and put it into the phone every time you switch it on.
Tip: Think very carefully about your use of locks. If many people use your phone with different SIM cards then maybe it’s a good idea to lock the SIM card. Locking the phone is a great idea until you forget the PIN code. Make sure you have noted the PIN code down somewhere where you can find it in six months time.
