Taking pictures with your W300i's camera

The Sony Ericsson W300i is primarily a Walkman phone so it should come as no surprise that the camera is not the best out there, however, it is good enough for sending pictures to your friends via MMS.

In fact the smaller file size generated by the 0.3 Megapixel camera will save you money on data charges compared to more powerful cameras.

The quickest way to select the camera is to:

• Click Up on the central navigation keys - it's marked with a camera icon (or alternatively select the Camera icon from the Main Menu) (Figure 1)
  
• To take a picture either press the central button or the top left button marked Capture (Figure 2)
• You can then choose Send and Continue to add an email recipient or select a contact or phone number (Figure 3)
  
• Alternatively click on More to take extra pictures or delete the current image (Figure 4)
  

To use the video function:

• Click Up and then Right on the central navigation keys
• Start filming with the central button or the top left key marked Record (Figure 5)
  
• When you have finished press the same button

The screen of the W710i is small and videos can look grainy, but the file is compressed to 3GP format for easy transmission to websites like YouTube.

Be warned anything other than the smallest video files cannot be sent by MMS without splitting them up (the maximum file size is 300k).
