Sony Ericsson S500i camera samples
A selection of sample digital photos to show the performance of the Sony Ericsson S500i's 2.0-megapixel camera
The Sony Ericsson S500i handset is almost in the dark ages when it comes to its camera. With a 2.0 megapixel resolution, those wanting a mobile phone with the added bonus of a good camera will not be opting for this hone, however, as an added extra it does manage to deliver satisfactory low-res images.
The S500i's picture camera has no zoom or flash meaning that you can only really capture decent images in the best possible conditions, but if these are at hand you should be able to get a clean crisp picture. You can take images in three resolutions, 2 megapixels, 1 megapixel and 0.3 megapixels, but if you actually want to use your pictures on something else other then your handset I would recommend sticking with the 2 megapixel setting.
Effects on the camera include Shooting Mode, in which you are able to take several pictures at once in Burst Mode or add fun Frames to images. You can also take Panoramic pictures with ease; simply take three shots in sequence whilst lining up objects; the overall product is very good.
Other flourishes on the effects options include switching to night vision for those times when caught out and about at midnight in a forest somewhere perhaps? A handy self-timer, the ability to add the time and date to images, enhance the picture quality, change the white balance according to the weather and finally take images in black & white, sepia or a negative mode. In video mode the same effects are available with the additional bonus of turning on the microphone
