Sending and receiving emails on the K800i

With an Internet connection set up you can read and send emails from your webmail and your POP email on your Sony Ericsson K800i
You can use your normal email address used on your PC so you can read, reply to and send emails just like you would on your computerSetting up email
Sony Ericsson can set up your email account on your phone automatically:
- Visit www.sonyericsson.com/support, choose your region and then country and click on the Email link.
- Follow the instructions on screen. To choose a webmail provider like Yahoo, Google or Hotmail, select Lifestyle Email when asked to choose your email provider.
- Select your email provider and continue to follow the instructions.
You can also set up your email manually. Before setting up your email account on your K800i, make sure you have the following email settings to hand:
Email address – Your full email address
Email address Username - Usually the part before the '@' in your address, but can be the whole address. Ask your email provider if you are unsure
Password - Your email password
Incoming (POP3) server - Your email provider will be able to supply this. You'll usually find their details on their websites
Outgoing (SMTP) server - This depends on which mobile phone network you use. Note: your email provider's POP3 settings will also contain details of the Outgoing (SMTP) server.
To create an email account manually:
- From the Menu screen, select Messaging and press select (Figure 1).
- Select Email (Figure 2) and then Settings (Figure 3).
- Select New Account and then Add (Figure 4).
- Enter a name for the account and then the required information (Figure 5).
Sending Emails
Once your account is set up you can now send emails from your webmail account on your phone to other email addresses.
- On the Menu screen select Messaging (Figure 1)and then select Email (Figure 2).
- Select Write New (Figure 6).
- Now enter the subject field and then the destination email address. You can also select Contacts Look Up to add an address from your phonebook.
- Highlight the Subject Field and enter a subject, then press OK.
- Click on the text field and enter your message (Figure 7).
- You can also add an attachment by pressing Add and choosing the type of attachment, then the file itself (Figure 8).
Receiving Emails
You can also receive emails to your webmail account on your phone:
- On the Messaging (Figure 1)screen select Email (Figure 2) then Inbox (Figure 9)
- Press More and then press Send & Receive (Figure 10) to get new messages sent to your phone. This will automatically send emails in your outbox as well.
- Select a message and press View to read it.
