It has a 3.2-megapixel camera built in with autofocus system, and has a selection of shooting features that are more advanced than your average cameraphone.

If you want to share some of the results with others, you can send them in messages in the usual way - or you can upload them to a blog or other online image sharing service. Like most of Sony Ericsson's recent handsets, one of the options available when a picture has been taken, or when browsing images in a gallery, is to send them to a Web site.

On the C510 Sony Ericsson has included software that allows you to upload images directly to a Blogger account, straight from the phone in a few easy clicks. Blogger is one of the upload options pre-defined in the phone's My Web sites list of upload sites, along with Picasa Web Album and MySpace. Users can add their own specific account email details for existing Picasa and MySpace accounts, or choose to add other details for alternative online upload services of their choice.

With the Blogger option, if users don't already have an online account they can create a blog automatically from the phone simply by sending an image to the site. One will be automatically set up, and you will receive details of the address and password details, so you can visit it and update it online.

Here's how to do it...

Sending images to Blogger
Sending images to a website is one of the options available when you first take a photograph, or you can send images you've previously taken by selecting them from the phone's photo gallery.

Uploading an image from the photo gallery
First, you need to choose the picture you want to upload.

In standby, press the Media softkey (Figure 1).

Highlight Photo (Figure 2). Press Select.

Highlight the image viewing option you want to browse (Figure 3). Press Select.

Select the album you wish to view, and scroll through the images until you find the one you want to upload (Figure 4). Press the left Options softkey.

Scroll down to highlight Send (Figure 5). Press Select.

Scroll down to highlight To Web site (Figure 6). Press Select.

You are now taken into the My Web sites menu. Scroll to highlight the option you want to use - in this example, Blogger (Figure 7). Press Select.

The first time you use the Blogger service, you have to agree to the Terms of service (Figure 8). To do this, press OK.

A New blog post screen appears. You can type in the title you want to give the post and add text. Highlight the appropriate panel and press Edit.

When you've finished typing in the text you want to appear on your blog (Figure 9), press OK.

To send to the blog, press Publish (Figure 10).

A message appears: Creating blog and publishing post (Figure 11).

Your new Blogger blog address will be automatically added to your C510's bookmarks, so you can visit it straight from the phone (Figure 12).

In a few moments you will receive a message which has details of your online Blogger account, with password and web address (Figure 13).

You can visit your mobile blog online on your phone or PC, and edit it after posting (Figure 14).

Your Blogger account details are automatically stored in My Web sites, so you can upload any pictures you like from the phone.

Simply choose a photo and send to the Blogger option on the My Web sites screen as outlined above, and the image will be automatically uploaded to the account you have created.

Uploading an image you've just taken
In a similar way, you can quickly upload an image you've just taken with the camera

When you've taken a photo, press the Send option (Figure 15).

Scroll down to highlight To Web site (Figure 16). Press Select.

You are now taken into the My Web sites menu (Figure 7).

Follow the same procedure outlined above to either open a new account automatically, or add the image to the account you have created on the C510

Upload video taken on your Sony Ericsson C510 straight to YouTube - we show you how

Sony Ericsson's Cyber-shot phones are all about imaging, and the C510 is no exception. It has plenty of up-range photography features and clever image-taking gadgetry for the keen mobile snapper.

In addition, the C510's camera is geared up for video shooting. Clips taken with the phone can be stored onboard, or uploaded straight to a variety of online services - including YouTube, via an easy-to-use application that comes pre-installed on the C510.

The YouTube application enables you to visit the online video sharing site, so you can search for, browse and view clips directly on your handset. Not only can you view content on YouTube, you can also upload any video clip you want to straight from your phone, using your regular YouTube account details to log on to the service. You can also manage and organise your account as you would from a desktop PC.

The C510's HSPA 3G connectivity means you can upload clips quickly and easily. You and your friends can then view them on YouTube on a PC in the usual way - or on another mobile phone.

It's simple to do. But make sure that you have an appropriate inclusive data plan so that all that data-hungry YouTube video watching and uploading isn't going to run up your phone bill...

Using YouTube
You can browse and watch YouTube clips without signing on to a YouTube account, but you will need an active YouTube account to upload your video clips.

Have your YouTube account username and password details to hand. If you don'y yet have one, you can easily set up a new account - visit www.youtube.com and click on Sign Up to set one up in just a few seconds.

Uploading video clips

From the standby screen press Menu (Figure 1).

In the main menu, scroll to highlight Organiser (Figure 2). Press Select.

Scroll to highlight Applications (Figure 3). Press Select.

Scroll to highlight YouTube (Figure 4). Press Select.

After a few seconds the phone will connect to the YouTube service. You will initially have to scroll down to choose your country for Terms of Use (Figure 5).

To agree to Terms of Use press Accept (Figure 6).

A warning about mobile data costs appears (Figure 7). Press OK to continue.

After a few seconds the YouTube mobile home page appears (Figure 8). Press Menu.

In the menu that appears on the left of the screen, scroll down to highlight Upload and press Select (Figure 9), or press the number 8 on the numberpad.

A message appears telling you that you need a username and password to log in (Figure 10). Press Login.

Type in your YouTube account Username (Figure 11). Press OK.

Type in your YouTube Password (Figure 12). Press Login. The phone starts logging in and takes a few seconds to confirm login details.

A list of video clips stored in your C510 appears onscreen (Figure 13). If you want to view clips to check before uploading, scroll to highlight the one you want to view and press Play. After it has been played, press Back to return to the video clip list.

Scroll to highlight the video clip you want to upload. Press Upload.

The phone will start uploading the video clip (Figure 14). How long it takes will depend upon the size of the video file, and the current speed of your data connection. The longer the video clip, the bigger the video file will be, and the longer it will take to upload.

If the upload connection times out mid-way through the uploading process don't worry - as before, simply highlight the file, and press Upload. Highlight Resume (Figure 15) and press Select. It will continue uploading.

When uploading has been completed, a confirmation message appears onscreen (Figure 16). Press OK.

Press Back to get to the main YouTube home page. Within a short amount of time, you and others will be able to view your video clip on your YouTube account either via your PC or on your mobile phone.

To view your clip, in the YouTube home page scroll down to highlight My Account (Figure 17). Press Select.

Scroll down to highlight My Videos (Figure 18). Press Select.

In a few moments a gallery of your uploaded videos appears. Use the navigation D-pad forward and back keys to scroll through thumbnails of your videos (Figure 19).

Highlight the video you want to view. Press Play. In a few moments it begins playing onscreen. (Figure 20).

Press Back to return to the list, and then Home to return to the YouTube home page.

When you're finished using the YouTube application, press Exit to return to the phone's Applications menu. If you click on YouTube again, you may be logged in automatically, unless you choose to log out of your account. To do this, in the YouTube home page, press Options, highlight Logout and press Select. A message appears asking if you want to End application. Press Select.
