"Sony Ericsson has taken a very good phone and made it great, taking all that was good with the original - its size, its slimline design, its music capabilities, its all-round feature set - and simply created an even better handset. Thanks to HSDPA, an improved 3.2-megapixel camera, a marathon battery life, Google Maps and a 2GB memory card bundled in for good measure, the Sony Ericsson W890i is a very powerful phone which looks fabulous. We predict greatness."

“The Sony Ericsson W890i will go down in the mobile phone history books as one of Sony Ericsson's best handsets ever. The combination of solid features with a solid, slim casing works a real treat Certainly, the W890i has its flaws -- the camera isn't perfect and could certainly do with a flash, and it would be good if the phone had Wi-Fi. For what it is, though, the handset performs really well. If you're after a more business-centric phone then there's the similarly featured Nokia E51. As Walkman phones go, we dare say this is the best one yet.”

“We really like the W890i. It fixes all of the problems that were present in the W880i, and is a sign that Sony Ericsson may have turned the corner after a disappointing year in 2007. This is a classic Walkman phone with great music features and a quality superslim design. It doesn't have the best camera, but it does have the benefit of fast 3G and a host of other features. No phone does everything, but if your focus is music, this is definitely in our shortlist of best phones to choose from in 2008.”

“The improvement on the W880i is clear for all to see. Sure, the W890i may not sport the shake controls and accelerometer sensors of the W910i, but if you like your music phones deliciously slim and feather light, you won’t care one jot.”

“Sony Ericsson has refreshed this mid-tier Walkman phone with some highly attractive upgraded features – such as more in-box memory, an improved (if not perfect) 3.2-megapixel camera and a fabulous music player - while online capabilities have been boosted by 3G HSDPA connectivity. Crucially, the Sony Ericsson W890i has also maintained the essence of the W880i’s slim, stylish design, high quality finishing and overall desirability.”

“The camera could be improved, but its high-speed 3G HSDPA connectivity, good spread of multimedia features and an excellent Walkman music player package make for a very polished performer. Another huge hit for Sony Ericsson.”
