The Sony Xperia Z just announced at CES has plenty going for it – a 5-inch full HD display, water and dust resistance, not to mention a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, but did you know it’s also compatible with the Sony Wireless Hangbag Speaker?
The Sony Handbag speaker is one of those Quirky accessories that catches eyes, be it for better or worse. The speaker owes its name to its design. Sorry to dissapoint ladies (and indeed gents), this speaker won’t act as a vessel for your lip liner and safety measures but it will wirelessly play back your music and deliver an easy means of carrying it - a hande.
Thanks to the NFC on board, the speaker effortlessly pairs with your Sony Xperia Z - or other NFC enabled Xperia device. With the NFC point located in the centre of the Handbag Speaker’s handle, a simple tap of your Xperia will pair the speaker and phone. Once paired, it’s pretty predictable affair with bluetooth audio playing back music very nicely indeed,
The speaker we got hands on time with was white, though it is also available in black as well. All the buttons are located along the top of the handle as is the in-call microphone. Around the back is a power port for when listening to tunes at home. At the base is a battery cover, underneath which sits four AA batteries. This means you can parade your Sony handbag Speaker in one arm with a chihuaha / latte in the other completely wire free.
Other highlights include the speaker’s 3.5mm line in port around the back and the microphone that we’ve breify mentioned. The latter means the handbag speaker, despite its recreational appearance can be used as a loud speaker for conference calls with ease.
