Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 firmware update available
An update bringing Windows Mobile 6.5.3 to the Sony Ericsson X2 is now available to download directly from Sony
Sony Ericsson has issued an update for its Xperia X2 handset that adds new features as well as providing general performance improvements.
It’s been a while in the making, with talk of it since February, but the update to firmware version 2.5.3 is now available to download using the Sony Ericsson Update Service.
As well as improving general performance the update promises users improved browser response with Internet Explorer and new video calling and FM Radio functionality.
More importantly perhaps, the 2.5.3 reportedly adds support for capacitive touchscreens and touch controls throughout the OS, meaning that you can finally do away with the need for a stylus.
There are a few other ease of use tweaks under the hood too; the ability to drag and drop icon shortcuts onto the Start screen, a more consistent navigation experience across the handset and a simpler set-up process to help new users get acquainted with their phone.
