Absolute Radio review

Most of us take advantage of the extra features on our phones, be it the cameras, email capability or keeping track of our social networking profiles. The most commonly used added extra with most handsets however is the music player.

If you are loaded with your MP3s and CDs back at home it is easy to take advantage of this bit of your device but for some it can be a hassle to upload everything or they may not even have that much at home to put on.

Here is where the joy of radio stations come in. Nowadays there is a radio station for every taste and variety of tune and it is great to stream onto your mobile. However streaming directly through your mobile browser can be a bore and leave a jumpy sound when you are out on your travels.

Absolute Radio is an app giving you a choice of all three of its radio stations with one push of a button. As well as the usual Absolute Radio, you can chose from its 80’s music station or classic rock station with a lot of ease.

The display is brightly coloured and easy to use. By sliding across the screen you can change your station and a simple bar at the bottom allows you to play or pause what you are listening to.

Although it does stream from the internet, it seemed a lot more solid than when going straight through a browser and it made it much simpler clicking on an app button that going through all the different URLs.

The only negative was how reactive the app was as often it would take a while to register you were trying to change stations and then take quite some time to buffer the stream and get things going again.

It is a free app though and we quite enjoyed the variety of tunes and ease of use so if Absolute Radio is your thing, give this Symbian app a try.
