We review iHandy Level Free, a spirit level for the Apple iPhone
Published on Oct 12, 2009
One application that puts the iPhone’s super-accurate accelerometer to good use is iHandy Level Free, a spirit level application.
Although iHandy Free only has one function, it does that one function perfectly and for free, while other identical apps charge for the pleasure.
The interface features the spirit level in the centre of a circle with a measurement monitor in the top left side. The aim is to get the measurement as close to 0 degrees as possible.
A calibration button allows you to set the level to 0 using something you know is dead straight as a guide.
There’s a Hold button too, meaning you can set the level to 0 and mark a straight line without fear your books will slide down the shelf you’re just about to fit.
In the settings menu, you can opt to remove both the calibration and hold buttons, plus adjust the bubble sensitivity for ultimate accuracy.
iHandy Level Free is the perfect app for anyone who needs to put up pictures, fix shelves or install anything along a straight line.
It may not have many bells and whistles, but hey, it’s useful and it’s free!
