We review Advanced English Dictionary, a word tool for the Apple iPhone
Published on Oct 12, 2009
The maker of Advanced English Dictionary has previously conjured up dictionary goodness for Symbian-based handsets and BlackBerrys and now it’s brought some love to the iPhone too.
But this is no ordinary dictionary. In addition to being an almost infinite resource of words and what they mean, it also educates users as to how words are linked.
Indeed, as well as definitions, synonyms and opposites, hypernyms and meronyms are also served up for users grammatical senses to feast on.
In addition to providing speedy dictionary services at the click of a finger, this time of app goes down well with people keen to expand their mind and knowledge base.
There are more than 1.5 million words in this app as it stands today so plenty to keep users busy and learning all the time – even on the loo!
It certainly came in handy when we were trying to write an email whilst on a train and wanted to be sure we were using the correct form of a word.
It’s a new take on an old, but incredibly useful, concept and one that will no doubt gain many fans.
