We review ITN News, a video news app for the iPhone
ITN News features video and text from ITN
Published on Oct 12, 2009
The ITN news app claims to be the first video-focused news app for the iPhone., because most are text stories.
This is not immediately obvious until you tap on the fun tab at the bottom of the screen that brings up a list of funny and less high-brow news stories in full moving picture quality.
When you click on any of the video stories, you can opt to watch it in video in the top right hand corner, and then the full-screen video player will open, streaming the video.
In addition to these more light-hearted headlines, you can also view the latest news headlines, sport and business stories. A ‘v’ icon in the bottom left corner of the picture identifies the video stories.
Share options are pretty limited, with only email available. Tap this option and you can share the story using the iPhone’s inbuilt Mail app, choosing to send the email from any one of the email accounts set up on your device.
One notable point about the ITN application is that there aren’t any ads plastered over the content as there are on other free news apps, plus you can cache the stories, allowing you to view them when you’re offline too.
