We review the Huffington Post for iPhone; a satirical app to match the satirical website
Published on Oct 12, 2009
The Huffington Post is one of the web’s leading satire and rumours site, so it’s no surprise the makers have created an app for the iPhone.
The interface is simple to use, with tabs and clickable links.
Along the bottom, there are tabs split into categories, from news, video, entertainment and politics plus a more tab that includes blogs, media, business, style, green news, world, comedy, living, Chicago and settings.
At the top of the page, there’s the leading headline story, and below it, a list of other headlines, each of which you can click on to view the content on-app, rather than having to head to a Safari page.
The app uses the same layout as the website, and although for many applications this isn’t ideal, it works well on the Huffington Post, with lots of pictures showing off the iPhone’s top notch screen.
You won’t be able to browse offline as the app requires a Wi-Fi, 3G or Edge connection to reproduce the information from the web.
Any stories can be posted to Facebook Connect, the social networking community site, or emailed, but there’s no integration to post to Twitter as there is on other news apps.
