Tip and Split review
We review Tip and Split, an app that'll solve all those post-bill restaurant arguments - and it's free
Published on Oct 9, 2009
We’ve all been out for dinner with friends and then had to rely on out-of-date school maths lessons or the iPhone’s calculator to work out who owes what and what that means with a tip.
This handy application does all the hardwork for you. It features a really cute little interface with calculator and the data you need hovering over a cafe-style table cloth and some tomato-shaped ketchup bottles.
You simply enter the total bill, then use the slot-machine style scrolling menu to select how many people have indulged and how much tip you want to leave. Then, in a matter of seconds, with a till-ringing sound in the background, a bill appears on the screen with exactly how much each person needs to pay.
Another nice touch is the fact that, next to each tip percentage, is a smiley icon that depicts a sad or happy face depending on how much of a thank you you’re planning on leaving behind.
It’s a great app and we can see it being of particular use to teenagers where every penny really does matter and then some, whereas adults may be a bit embarrassed to tot up who owes what in minute detail in such a public fashion.
If you’re always the one who ends up paying more than everyone else, this is the app for you.
