The Moron Test review

We review The Moron Test, a fun iPhone app that doesn't serve a huge purpose
Published on Oct 9, 2009
Do you know someone who thinks they’re brain of Britain? Why not catch them out and make them feel stupid?
It may sound quite petty, but putting someone in their place is always quite good fun. Now there’s an iPhone app to help speed things along.
The first test isn’t actually a test. The app loads in landscape mode, leaving you feeling a bit of a Wally when you’re holding it the wrong way up when it is fully loaded.
You’re greeted with four coloured buttons on the first screen and despite it saying in the middle you need to press the red button to start, you can’t help but be distracted by the other colours and inevitably end up pressing anything but red. Immediate fail!
Sometimes the app asks you not to do something that actually looks like something you should do. For example, a big red button in the middle of the screen that says continue on it is contradicted by the instruction on the top of the screen telling you not to press the button! It certainly requires patience and willpower!
The cheeky messages the app serves up when you fail are also smile worthy. Our favourite was: “Everything with a brain makes it this far. You are now and average mammal.”
And so the game continues. It’s looks so easy, but it’s actually not. But it is utterly addictive and we were playing it for what felt like two minutes and looked at the clock and found half an hour had passed by!
