Mobile Nanny parental control app launches

A new app that allows parents complete control of their children's mobile has launched for Windows Mobile

Published on Oct 13, 2009

Mobile Nanny is a new app from Arizona-based developer Retina X, allowing parents to silently oversee all activity on their children's mobile, reducing the possibility and dangers of “sexting”.

Without too much of a leap of the imagination we can tell you that sexting refers to the sending and receiving of sexually explicit messages and photos, naturally a concern for parents.

One of the primary functions of Mobile Nanny is to allow parents to restrict access to certain apps and web content, but scratch the surface and it becomes clear that there's a whole lot more to the software.

It seems like a powerful app with a wealth of functionality that includes providing an on-handset, as well as a web-based user interface - where parents can see full text and voice call-logs.

Mobile Nanny also gives parents the power to block any phone number from communication, as well as providing the option of locking the phone for part of the day – the choice between just locking communications, or the whole phone, is yours.

If you're generous enough to have provided your offspring with a GPS equipped mobile, you can also get co-ordinates sent to you. The program captures and uploads them every 30 minutes by default, but also offers a “silent text” option that allows live tracking of the handset.

All this snooping doesn't come cheap though; $39.97 quarterly, $59.97 for 6-months, or $79.97 for a full year.

If you've got a Windows Mobile 6.x Standard or Professional edition handset and sufficient curiosity to justify the cost, then pop over to Mobile-Nanny.com to download it.
