BlackBerry Messenger has been around for a while, allowing BlackBery users to chat over the air using IM.
Now the service has been revamped, allowing you to pair your BlackBerry up with a friend's using a barcode reader.
Each BlackBerry has its own BlackBerry barcode. Just fire up the app, opt to add a friend and the camera will start automatically.
Take a photo of your friend's barcode and the information will be added to your BlackBerry Messenger.
