Pairing your handset

You don’t need to pair your handset with every other Bluetooth device. You can transmit data between phones and PCs without pairing, but you’ll need to use pairing when connecting a Bluetooth headset and, when transmitting data, paired devices conveniently appear in the list of recipients without you needing to perform a search.

To pair your X820 with another device, follow these steps:

From the standby screen, press Menu to enter the main menu
Scroll down and right to highlight ‘Settings’, then press Select (Figure 1).
Move down the list to the seventh item, called ‘Bluetooth’ and press Select (Figure 2).
Now scroll down once to highlight ‘My devices’ then press Select (Figure 3).
Press Select again to begin a search of other nearby visible devices. (Figure 4)
When the name of the device you want to pair with has appeared, press Stop then highlight the device’s name and press Select.
You will be prompted to enter a PIN number (Figure 5). This is a rudimentary security tool and it prevents another device from accepting pairing if it doesn’t have the same code. When pairing with a computer, you’ll be prompted to enter the same code as you entered on the handset to complete the pairing process. If you are pairing with a headset or similar, check your device manual for the PIN number. Quite often it will be set to “0000”.
You will shortly see a message confirming that the device has successfully paired.
