"Despite these grievances, it's near impossible to dislike the Samsung Soul. When a handset is described as being an all-rounder, it tends to mean that the phone is competent in all areas without excelling. The Samsung U900 Soul however, is an all-rounder with above average capabilities. Everything from the cracking camera, to Bang & Olufsen enhanced music player, to the ultra-fast internet speeds screams class."

“The Samsung Soul is fairly straightforward, but that's what impresses us. It's by no means a do-all phone: there's no GPS and no Wi-Fi, for starters. It just works well and provides an enjoyable user experience.”

“The U900 is Samsung's flagship phone of 2008. It's a super-sexy super-slim slide phone that looks very "2008" with its dual-screen touch-sensitive controls and metal casing. With a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, 3G video calling, MP3 player, FM radio and plenty of memory it should tick most people's boxes. The only reason we haven't awarded it 5 stars is because some people think that the ringtone and call volume are too quiet.”

“The Soul is a genuinely handsome handset that’s loaded with a first-class set of features and a surprisingly smooth operating contextual touch pad. It may not have the LG Secret’s video capturing talents but it’s a more attractive and fun phone to use.”

“Like LG’s Chocolate, the Soul is very much a winner in the style stakes, even if technology-wise it doesn’t really break any new ground. But new technology isn’t necessarily what makes a phone hot, and with its stylish good looks, distinctive touch pad and quality camera, it’s got plenty to recommend it.”

“Magical Touch might be a daft name for the touch interface, but it is very well implemented. Others toying with touchpanels should learn from what Samsung has got right here especially its utilitarian icons, great feedback, user calibration of touch sensitivity and hardware buttons for Call, End and softmenu feature."
