Among the Samsung Omnia HD i8910's wide-ranging smartphone functionality is Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling users to enjoy high-speed data connectivity via Wireless LAN.
Samsung Omnia HD i8910 users can connect to their home Wi-Fi hubs, work access points or public Wi-Fi hotspots. Setting up and using the device is easy - and it means fast downloads and browsing wherever there's a suitable connection.
Setting up Wi-Fi
- From the homescreen press the Menu button (or swipe the screen from right to left or press the central button under the display) (Figure 1).
- In the main menu, press Settings (Figure 2).
- Press Connectivity twice (Figure 3).
- Press Wireless LAN twice (Figure 4).
- A list of available Wi-Fi networks appears. Press the one you wish to use (Figure 5).
- A menu appears (Figure 6). Press Connect.
- The first time you connect you will have to enter a pre-shared key code for the WLAN network. Type in the key code and press OK (Figure 7).
- In a few moments your connection will be confirmed and a cross appears next to your WLAN connection (Figure 8).
In future, any time you select this network your Samsung Omnia HD i8910 will be recognised and connected without having to enter the code again. (To disconnect, simply press Options and press Disconnect WLAN.)
You can now use the phone's browser to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, upload images or connect to other online services.
Using the browser via Wi-Fi
- In the main menu (Figure 2), press the browser icon (in this example on an Orange-branded phone, Orange World).
- Select a web address (from bookmarks, recently visited sites, etc.) or type in a new one by pressing the globe icon button in the centre towards the bottom of the Bookmarks screen (Figure 9).
- Type in the web address using the keypad and press the green tick button.
- Press the GoTo button (Figure 10).
- Select your WLAN connection (Figure 11) and press.
- In a few moments the web page you have selected appears (Figure 12).
