Add personal ringtones and photos to contacts on the Samsung G600

Know who's calling you without looking at your phone by assigning a personal ringtone to each of contacts. And while you're at it, add a photo too

With your Samsung G600, you can personalise your contact details by giving each their own ringtone and photo that play and display whenever they call. Caller ringtones and caller images, as they're called, are very easy to set up.

Adding a personal Caller ringtone
You can make any kind of sound a personal ringtone for your contacts. First locate the sound you want to assign by following these steps:

  • From standby mode, click Menu
  • Highlight My files and click Select
  • The sound will be in either the Music or Sounds section. Highlight the relevent section and click Select (or just press 3 or 4 for quick access)
  • Navigate through the subfolders in either section to find the sound clip or MP3 you want to assign. Highlight the file and click Options.
  • Highlight Set as and click Select. When the pop-up menu appears, highlight Caller ringtone and press Select, or just press 2.
  • You'll be taken to your contact list. To assign a contact to the tone, highlight their name using the up and down nav keys and press the centre selection key. You'll see the confirmation message 'Changed' confirming the change.
  • Click the red End call key to return to standby mode.

Adding a Caller image
Pick an image to appear when a contact calls you. This could be their face or just anything that reminds you of them! Follow these steps:

  • From standby mode, click Menu
  • Highlight My files and click Select
  • Open the Images folder by highlighting Images and clicking Select (or just press 1 for quick access)
  • Highlight the section containing the image (from My photos, Downloaded image and Favourite images) and click Select
  • Highlight the photo you want to assign using the nav keys, and when you've found it, click Options
  • Highlight Set as and click Select. When the pop-up menu appears, highlight Caller image and press Select, or just press 2.
  • You'll be taken to your contact list. To assign a contact to the tone, highlight their name using the up and down nav keys and press the centre selection key. You'll see the confirmation message 'Changed' confirming the change.
  • Click the red End call key to return to standby mode.

Now the next time your contact calls you, you'll hear their personal ringtone and see their face.

To add personal ringtones or photos you have to move the caller from sim to phone. Hope this helps

I have downloaded some family pics from my computer that I wasnt to use as caller images & I can't do that from my memory card. When I have copied the pics to my phone they have gone into My Files "Other Files" & there is no option on there to use them as caller pics. What do I do?

This might not be the right box for this, but I can't see where else to put it. The pics I have on my phone (family pics as in the above question) I am trying to send as text messages. When I try to send I get the message that the file is too big & would I like to resize it. When I say "yes" I keep getting the message "resizing failed" I never had this problem with my Sony. Is it just me or is this phone not really able to do this stuff? I feel like sending it back & reverting to Sony.
