Using namecards with the Samsung D900
Ian Murphy
The Samsung D900 namecard feature lets you quickly send names, telephone mumbers email and other contact info to other phones and devices
Every time you exchange your details with another person it takes time to swap names, telephone number and addresses.
If you give them a business card, they have to find time to input it into their phone, computer or PDA. With namecards you can transfer all your details direct to their device or even email them so that they can be imported into their contacts list.
To create a Namecard you go Phonebook, My namecard and enter your details. A namecard can hold your name, mobile, home, office, fax and alternative telephone numbers, your email address(es), birthday and any other notes you want to enter.
Samsung has decided not to allow you to store multiple copies of your namecard on the phone. This is a shame as it would have been helpful to have business, friends, family and other categories of namecards.
Once you have completed the form, you go to Options and choose Save. If you want to have your namecard in a different language to your phone, you can select the language option and choose from the available languages.
To use your Namecard you can send it via messaging, exchange it via Bluetooth or print it via a Bluetooth enabled printer.
To send your namecard you go Phonebook, My namecard and select your namecard. Then press Options, Send via and choose how you want to send your phone card. You can include it in a text message, multimedia message, email or send via Bluetooth.
If you want to exchange your namecard with a Bluetooth device, you go Phonebook, My namecard and select your namecard, then press Options, Exchange namecard.
You are asked to select the Bluetooth device you want to send the namecard to. If it isn't already in your list, you will need to add it. Once the device is shown, you select the device and press OK. The namecard is then transferred wirelessly.
