Transferring files between a Samsung D900 and a Bluetooth device is easy

The Samsung D900 uses Bluetooth to send and receive information such as music and pictures.

Transferring files between a Samsung D900 and a Bluetooth enabled device such as a PDA or a computer is a common task. You can either Get files There are two parts to this process. The first is to pair/connect your PDA or computer with the Samsung D900 covered in an earlier tutorial.

Getting Files
Once the phone and the device are paired you can easily get files and put them on your phone. These could be photos, video, text documents or even music. Start by selecting the device you want exchange files with. This is done by going to the Bluetooth, My Devices menu, highlighting the device and press the options button. This opens a menu listing things that you can do with this connection. To see the files that you can get from the remote device select Browse Files. This will create a link with the device and show you a list of files that can be transferred to your phone. Alternatively, if you just highlight the device and press OK, you will be taken straight to the Browse Files screen.

To get a file, you press Options and select Get. The only options are to either get the Selected file or to get All files. If you want to transfer several files, then you have to select All and then uncheck those files that you do not want. Quite why Samsung decided to make it this difficult is a mystery. Once you have decided which file(s) to transfer, select Get and the file(s) are transferred to the phone. The files keep their original names unless you have previously transferred them when you have the choice to overwrite the file, rename the file or cancel the transfer.

Sending Files
If you want to transfer files from the phone to another device over Bluetooth then the process is different as you have to Send the files to the device. To do this, you need to go to the My Files folder from the main menu screen and then select the type of file you want. To send an image you select Images and then choose where the image files are located, such as My Photos or Memory Card.

This will open a list of the images in that location and you select Options, Open to see all the images. To start a transfer, you need to go to the Options menu and select Send via. The choice is to send as a Multimedia message, an email attachment or across Bluetooth.

If you select Bluetooth, the phone will display all the images in a list. To choose which images to send, you scroll to the image and press the OK button in the centre of the navigation pad. Once you have selected the images you want to send, you select Send and you will be prompted for the device you want to send them to.

Make sure that the device is turned on and has an existing Bluetooth connection. If it doesn't appear in the My Devices list, you will need to take search new device and add the device. Once the device is available, highlight it and press the Select button. The files will be sent to your Bluetooth device. You will need to check the device as some PDAs require that you accept each file that is sent to it.
