How to activate Bluetooth on the Samsung D900 to enable wireless access to other devices
The SGH-D900 has Bluetooth support allowing up to connect a range of devices from headsets to computers, PDA's to other mobile phones.
The first step to using Bluetooth is to Activate it. On the SGH-D900, Samsung have unhelpfully put the Bluetooth menu inside the Applications folder.
To use Bluetooth, select the Applications Icon and then scroll down to Bluetooth. When you highlight any option inside a menu on the SGH-D900 you get a mini menu. To see the full menu simply select Bluetooth.
The first thing to do is Activate Bluetooth so select the first menu option and choose On. Once this is done you will get a message saying that Bluetooth is Activated.
One of the dangers of Bluetooth is that people can use it to connect to your device. While not as simple as some articles would suggest, the danger of contact lists being accessed is there so you should take a small number of steps to be safe.
Once Bluetooth is activated, give your device a name. This is option 4 from the Bluetooth Menu. This allows you to name your phone so that you can recognise it from other Bluetooth devices.
The next step is to decide whether you want anyone to be able to discover your telephone. The safest step is to set your device as not visible. This will not stop you using the phone to connect to a PDA or a Bluetooth headset but it will stop other people being able to see your phone and connect to it.
Choose Option 3 off of the Bluetooth menu and by default the phone's visibility should be set to Off. You can change it if you want.
The next thing is to set Bluetooth to only work in secure mode. This means that there must be a pin code exchange between your device and any other device that wants to connect to it. Select Option 5 from the Bluetooth menu and set to On.
Bluetooth is now configured and you can begin to add devices and use Bluetooth services.
