Browsing the Internet

Your phone will automatically connect to your selected Internet profile

Surf the web and bookmark your favourite sites using the integrated WAP browser

The Samsung SGH-D600 comes equipped with a WAP browser and GPRS connectivity that gives you faster internet access than traditional GSM speeds. The browser can struggle with large web pages but generally offers a fast service that adapts web pages to suit the limitations of the phone’s screen.

By default, your D600 uses the centre button, labelled ‘OK’, as a shortcut to take you directly into your WAP browser. You can also enter the browser from the standby screen by pressing Menu, then scrolling left to highlight the ‘Browser’ icon, then pressing Select.

When you enter the browser, your phone will automatically connect to your selected Internet profile and take you to your home page. If you want to change your home page follow these steps:

  • From the standby screen, press Menu to enter the main menu.
  • Press left once to highlight the ‘Browser’ icon, then press Select (Figure 1).
  • Scroll down to the fifth menu item, called ‘Profile settings’, then press Select (Figure 2).
  • Highlight your current profile (if you’re not sure what this is, go back and highlight the sixth menu item in the Browser settings – your current profile will pop out form the right) then press Select.
  • Highlight ‘Home URL’ (Figure 3) and enter your new home page address.
  • Press OK to save your new settings.

Inside your browser (Figures 4 & 5), there are shortcut keys you can use to speed up your navigation. If you are accessing a very large page, the WAP browser will automatically split it into more manageable pages. Use the numerical keys ‘1’ and ‘3’ to navigate between pages. ‘3’ takes you on to the next page and ‘1’ returns you to the previous one. Pressing ‘2’ will stop the browser from downloading images, which will help speed up operation and potentially reduce data fees.

Press * to open the navigation menu (Figure 6). You can then choose between Back, Home, Exit, Reload, and Show URL. Navigate through these options using the direction pad and press OK to select. Or you can use the corresponding numbers on the numerical keypad.

Pressing # opens up a further options menu (Figure 7). This gives you a fast access to ‘Enter URL’ and Bookmarks. Highlight an option, then press Select and enter your details accordingly.

If you wish to add a new bookmark, you don’t need to enter the WAP browser. Enter the browser menu by press Menu on the standby screen, the scrolling left to highlight the ‘Browser’ icon and pressing OK. Highlight ‘Bookmarks’ and press select. Choose the slot you want to use and press Select (Figure 8). Now enter a name for your Bookmark, then press Down and enter the website address (Figure 9). When you’re done, press Options, highlight ‘Save’ then press Select.
