Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 update rolls out
Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets in Europe are now receiving the Android 4.1.2 update
A new update is being pushed to the international version of Samsung’s Galaxy S3 flagship smartphone, bringing the handset up to Android 4.1.2.
A big chunk of the update appears to be various tweaks to the TouchWiz ‘Nature’ UI, which will introduce a number of features previously seen on Galaxy Note devices.
This will include the Note 2's multiwindow functionality, allowing two apps to share screen space.
Other additions are ‘Page Buddy’, a refined gallery app, a user-customisable notifications centre and the inclusion of two apps: Paper Artist and Group Cast.
Just as with the last update, users in Poland appear to be getting the new build, labelled JZO54K, first, meaning it should hit unlocked UK phones within the next couple of weeks at most.
Of course, carrier-locked handsets will take a little while longer, though if previous releases are anything to go by most UK networks seem pretty keen to push Samsung’s firmware updates as fast as possible to keep customers happy.
And there’s good reason for that - a lot of people use Galaxy S3s, it has become the UK’s highest-selling handset even winning out over Apple’s iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S.
