Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy S3 image leaked

An anonymous tipster has sent us an image said to be of the hotly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3

What is allegedly the final design of the Samsung Galaxy S3 flagship smartphone has been sent to us.

The image, which was emailed to us by a tipster who wishes to remain anonymous, came attached with the words 'Samsung Galaxy S3'.

With an abundance of supposedly 'leaked images' doing the rounds, we were a little dubious but unlike most leaks, this doesn't seem to be a prototype, Photoshopped, and it's definitely not a sketch.

Assuming this is in fact the final Samsung Galaxy S3 design, it looks pretty sizeable, suggesting it does in fact have a 4.7 to 4.8-inch display. It would also end the speculation on the button number debate.

It also looks as if a curved display from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is being used, which is a bonus.

Recent leaked final specs and the accompanying sketch, reportedly taken from the Galaxy S3's service manual, suggest this photo is on the money. The volume buttons and general shape, for instance, is the same, and there's no arguing with the trademark black and silver seen on a number of Samsung devices.

Sadly, no details of its internals were given to us but if we assume the aforementioned leaked specs are correct, the Galaxy S3 will have the following:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • HSPA+ 21Mbps / HSUPA 5.76Mbps
  • 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash
  • 4.8-inch Super AMOLED MIPI display
  • 1080p recording an playback
  • 1.5GHz quad core processor
