Guide: How to set up a lock screen on the Samsung Galaxy S2

It's a good idea to set a lock screen for your smartphone to prevent people from accessing your private information.

You have three options on the Samsung Galaxy S2 with either a pattern lock, PIN lock or password lock.

How to set an unlock pattern

1. From the homescreen, open the application list (App drawer) and select ‘Settings’.
2. Tap ‘Location and security’.
3. Tap ‘Set screen lock – Pattern’.
4. Draw a pattern by dragging your finger to connect at least 4 dots.
5. Select ‘Continue’.
6. Draw the pattern again to confirm.
7. Select ‘Confirm’.

How to set an unlock password

1. From the homescreen, open the application list (App drawer) and select ‘Settings’.
2. Tap ‘Location and security’.
3. Tap ‘Set screen lock – Password’.
4. Enter a new password (alphanumeric) and select ‘Continue’.
5. Enter the password again and select ‘OK’.

How to set an unlock PIN code

1. From the homescreen open the application list (App drawer) and select ‘Settings’.
2. Tap ‘Location and security’.
3. Tap ‘Set screen lock – PIN’.
4. Enter a new PIN (numeric) and select ‘Continue’.
5. Enter the PIN again and select ‘OK’.
