ZTE will be releasing multiple handsets in 2013 speaking the same design language as the newly announced ZTE Grand S LTE

ZTE has announced the Grand S LTE, a stunningly thin flagship announced at CES 2013.

We managed to get a hands-on with the device and speak with Hagen Fendler, the company's global design director to better understand the way ZTE looks to tackle the year ahead from a design perspective.

Perhaps the most interesting revelation? The expectation of a family of ZTE devices speaking the same design language as the Grand S LTE.

Fendler, the overseer of ZTE's global design sees the Grand S LTE as a seminal product that innovates internally and industry-wide.

Its backside 3D glass camera mount for example manages a surface strength able to take a force of 90N (roughly 91KG), which when coupled with its unrivaled thinness marries elegance and strength beautifully.

This renewed focus on design that has fueled the conception of the Grand S LTE will also lead the way for other handsets across pricepoints.

With the intention over the next year to have a portfolio of phones that speak the same design language as the Grand S LTE, it's likely we'll be seeing a mid ranger and entry level device in the coming months, possibly at MWC.

Fendler also went on to explain how extensive research into utilising materials such as ceramics and experimenting with unibody design has influenced the Grand S and will inevitably feature in upcoming devices expected in 2013.

If ZTE's line up pans out the way Fendler suggests, the seminal Grand S will be the first device to create a truly consistent design language for ZTE across pricepoints and could greatly help the brand penetrate the hearts, minds and wallets of consumers worldwide.
