Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie) launch scheduled for May 15 2013?

Google has confirmed that its annual I/O developer conference will take place on May 15 2013. Expect to see Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie) launched alongside some new hardware

 

Google’s annual I/O developer conference will take place on May 15, 2013, and could well see the launch of Android Key Lime Pie (version 5.0) as well as some new hardware. 

At 2012’s I/O event Google unveiled Android Jelly Bean, the Nexus 7, and the ill-fated Nexus Q media-streaming unit. It also demoed Project Glass and updated all in attendance about what the future holds for Android. 

I/O gets bigger every year and 2013’s should be no exception, so expect to see Android 5.0 unveiled alongside some new hardware, perhaps a phone or a tablet, Google’s new AirPlay-liked streaming service, and some new developments re: Project Glass. 

The event takes place from May 15 to May 17 in San Francisco, according to BGR. Registration for the event is scheduled to open inside Q1 of 2013. 

So, to wrap up: here’s what we expect to see unveiled at I/O 2013: 

  • Android 5.0 (AKA Key Lime Pie)
  • A new Nexus handset/tablet
  • A commercial release for Project Glass
  • Google’s answer to AirPlay 
  • Refined version of 2012’s Nexus Q

… And hopefully a whole load more.
