MWC 2011: Failboat fails as MeeGo flops
Intel showcases MeeGo at Mobile World Congress 2011 — and is stunned by overwhelming wave of indifference
The controversial MeeGo operating system has received a lukewarm welcome at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Intel was showcasing the in-development OS at the event and users have reported it as buggy, slow and disappointing.
According to slashgear.com it has changed very little in the year since it was announced at the last MWC.
The poor performance comes only a few weeks after Nokia announced it would abandon the MeeGo platform for its mobile devices in favour of Windows Phone 7, following a company-wide memo from newly appointed boss Stephen Elop.
Intel has said they intend to stick with development of the platform and is disappointed to see Nokia withdraw the platform for its mobile devices.
However, Nokia has said it may continue to develop MeeGo for in-car systems and netbooks, amongst other devices.
