Getting to grips with the Nokia N95 radio
Make the most of the Nokia N95 preset radio stations and Visual radio
Your Nokia N95 has a build in FM radio which you can use to listen to your favourite radio stations. With presets for 50 stations it is quick and easy to get to the kind of listening that suits you at the time.
To listen to the radio you must have the provided headset plugged in as this contains the FM antenna. So your first step is to plug this in.
Next press the Nokia Menu key to the left of the directional keys then choose Applications then Radio. Alternatively use the Multimedia key to the right of the directional keys and then push the Scroll key to the right.
To listen to the radio through the loudspeaker choose Options with the left Selection key then choose Activate loudspeaker. To turn the speaker off and revert to using the headphones, choose Options with the left Selection key then choose Deactivate loudsp.
To manually search for stations use the scroll key to highlight the icon to the left of the current frequency indicator and press. This looks upward from the current frequency and finds the next station along. Repeat this to cycle through available stations up the radio band. To search for stations broadcasting at lower frequencies than the current one use the scroll key to move down one icon, to a downward pointing arrow, and click that.
To save a station in one of the numerous available slots for favourites choose Options with the left Selection key then choose Save station. You will be shown all the slots and can cycle through them. When you have found the slot in which you want to save your station, choose Select with the left Selection key. Now type in the name of the station and choose OK with the left Selection key.
To view the complete listing of presaved stations choose Options with the left Selection key and then choose Stations. Now you can scroll through that list and click the Scroll key to choose one. You can then Listen, Edit or Delete the station, or Move it to a different save slot.
Once you have saved one or more stations ‘forward’ and ‘back’ icons appear on the main radio listening screen. You can use these to cycle through all your saved stations one by one.
Use the rocker key on the right edge of the phone to change the volume while listening.
Visual Radio
The Visual Radio feature requires that you have your Nokia N95's internet connection set up. It layers an interactive element downloaded via the internet to supplement the FM signal with images, quizes, competitions and other information.
At present the coverage of Visual Radio is pretty limited in the UK - 02 is the only operator that supports it and Virgin Radio is the sole national station offering a Visual Radio service.
