Sending and receiving files via Bluetooth on the N95
How to transfer files wirelessly and for free via Bluetooth to and from the Nokia N95
Send a file to another device
First you need to find the file you want to send. To send a photograph:
- Go to the Gallery by pressing the Nokia Menu key to the left of the directional keys and then select Gallery
- In the Gallery screen select Images and Videos, then highlight the photo you want to share
- Choose Options with the left Selection key, select Send then choose Via Bluetooth.
- To search for a new device select More devices. The Nokia N95 will show a message that says ‘searching for devices’ and will then list any other devices with Bluetooth enabled that are in range.
- Choose the one you want with the Scroll key and click it to select. The N95 will show a message saying ‘connecting’. The device you are sending to will ask if you want to accept the connection. Tell it you do, and your N95 will show a ‘sending data’ message and a progress bar indicating how the send is going. When the send is finished, the N95 will briefly show a message saying ‘Data sent’
- Check the receiving device to see whether you need to manually tell it to save the received file
Receive a file from another device
- First make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Nokia N95 and that it is set to ‘shown to all’– see Setting up Blootooth on the N95. If you aren’t sure whether Bluetooth is on or off, look at the main screen. There will be a small Bluetooth icon below the battery status indicator if Bluetooth is switched on
- Next send the file from the other device. Your N95 may ask for a passcode for the other device. Enter this using the numberpad and choose OK with the left Selection key
- Your phone will ask if you want to accept the connection. Choose Yes with the left Selection key
- The file will be transferred and when it has arrived you will get a message alert tone. Select Show with the left Selection key and you can access the file
