Sandra Vogel
Playlists are a useful way of organising your music over and above the usual trinity of artist, album and track name.
The Nokia N73 has a handy built-in music player that allows you to organise your music in playlists as well as the usual artist, album and track name
Playlists are a useful way of organising your music over and above the usual trinity of artist, album and track name.
The Nokia N73 automatically makes three playlists: Most played tracks, Recent tracks and Recent additions. You can add more.
To create a playlist you need to be in the music player (Press the Nokia Menu key to the left of the 1 and 2 keys then choose Music.)
If a track is playing that you want to add to a playlist choose Options with the left Selection key then use the Scroll key to move down to Add to a playlistand click. Now choose New playlist.
Decide whether to store the playlist on the phone or a memory card by using the Scroll key to highlight the option you want then clicking it.
Note: if you store a playlist on a miniSD cards, the phone can only access it when the card is in its slot. Similarly if you store tunes on a card and swap cards a lot, playlists stored on the phone will only be able to access tunes on the card currently in the phone.
Now give the playlist a name and choose OK with the left Selection key. You will get the message ‘Track added to’ and the name of your playlist.
You can set up more playlists as you want to each with their own names. The same song can go in more than one playlist.
To view your playlists choose Options with the left Selection key then choose Music library. Now use the scroll key to highlight ‘Playlists’ and click.
Next use the Scroll key to highlight the playlist you want to take a look at and click. Choose Options with the left Selection key and among the options available you can:
- add tracks from the complete list of tracks available by scrolling through them and clicking to select
- remove tracks from the playlist
- play individual tracks from the playlist
Other music player options
If you are playing a playlist or all the music available, choose Options with the left Selection key then choose
- Random play to play the tracks in a random order
- Loop and then One or All to play tracks in a continuous loop
Using the Equaliser
If you listen to different types of music, such as rock, classical, or jazz you may find the built in equaliser is useful.
When music is playing choose Options with the left Selection key then choose Equaliser and move through the available options using the Scroll key. Click to select one. You will get the option to Activate’ or ‘Edit.
Choose Activate and the Equaliser option will be chosen. Choose Edit and you can personalise the sound to your own taste.
