Create and use Contact Groups on the N73
Sandra Vogel
Maybe you just have a set of special friends and want to assign them a ringing tone different from everyone else's
If there are groups of people you like to contact all at once with your Nokia N73 set up contact groups to keep in touch with them easily and quickly
If you have several people you like to contact all at once, for example a sports team you are involved with or a particular group of work colleagues or friends, it is easy to set up a group on your Nokia N73 and then contact them all at once.
Or maybe you just have a set of special friends and want to assign them a ringing tone different from everyone else’s. A contact group is useful here too.
Set up a group
- Go to Contacts. If you don’t have a shortcut set up for this press the Nokia Menu key to the left of the 1 and 2 keys and choose Contacts
- Press the Scroll key right to go to the groups listing, and then use the left Selection key to choose Options then New Group
- Write a name for the group, then use the left Selection key to choose OK
Add members to the group
- Open the group you have created by clicking the navigation key then choose Options and then Add members
- Scroll through your contacts listing and press the navigation key every time you highlight someone who should be in the group. A cross will appear by the entry.
- When you have chosen everyone who needs to be in the group select OK. The members will be listed within their group
Edit groups
Go to Contacts. If you don’t have a shortcut set up for this press the Nokia Menu key to the left of the 1 and 2 keys and choose Contacts
Press the navigation key right to go to the Groups listing
Choose the group you want to edit by highlighting it with the navigation key, then choose Options with the left selection key
- Choose Rename to give the group a new name. Just type the new name then choose OK with the left Selection key
- Choose Ringing tone to select a special ringtone for group members. Use the navigation key to listen to the available tones, and choose Select with the left Selection key when you find the tone you like
- To add a member to a group open it by clicking the group name, then choose Options with the left Selection key then Add members and choose members in the same way you did when setting the group up – see above
- To remove a member from a group open it by clicking the group name, then highlight a group member with the navigation key. Now choose Options with the left Selection key then Remove from group. You will be asked to confirm. Choose Yes with the left Selection key or No with the right selection key
Send a text or email message to the group
- To send a text or email to the whole group highlight the group name then choose Options then Create message
- Choose the message type – Text message, Multimedia message or E-mail – and the message creation software will start to run.
- If you are creating a text message and a group member has several phone numbers to his or her name you will need to select the numbers individually by picking from a list.
