Create playlists on your N70's music player
Sandra Vogel
You can create playlists easily
If you like mobile music then you may want to use the Nokia N70 as a mobile music player
Then Nokia N70 has a music built in. It can play music stored on a memory card. The memory card is a dual voltage RS-MMC card format. It is not as popular as many other card formats, but memory cards are available.
You can get music onto the memory card either by using the PC software that comes with the phone or by copying it onto a card using a card reader attached to your computer.
To start the music player running press the Nokia Menu key to the left of the 1 and 2 keys then choose My own and then Music.
The music player opens showing several options that allow you to choose what to play. Use the navigation key to scroll to the one you want, and press the centre of the navigation key to choose it. The options are:
- all songs. This will show all the songs on the memory card and allow you to choose one to play. To play all the songs choose the first one in the list with the navigation key and it will start to play. The rest of the tunes will play in turn
- playlists. Choose this to see any playlists you have set up and choose to play one
- artists. Choose this to sort all available tunes by artist
- albums. Choose this to sort all available tunes by their album
- recently added. Choose this to see all the tunes you have added recently to the memory card
When you add tunes to or remove them from the memory card it is best to manually update the Nokia N70’s information. To do this make sure the memory card is inserted then with the music player opened choose Options with the left select key, then choose Update collection. There will be a short wait while the player updates its information.
Playlists
You can create playlists easily.
One method is to do this from the All songs list. To do this go to the All songs view – see above. Now use the navigation button to highlight a song you want on a playlist and then choose Options with the left select key then choose Add to a playlist. If no playlist is set up you will get the choice New playlist. Choose this and you can enter some text to name a playlist.
Add another song by highlighting it, choosing Options again and Add to playlist again. Now you can choose either to create another new playlist, or add the song to a Saved playlist. Choose the latter and you can scroll through all the playlists you have saved, selecting the one you want to put the selected tune into.
When a tune is playing you can add it to a playlist by choosing Options with the left select key and then Add to a playlist and then choosing New playlist or Saved playlist as above.
NOTE:
Deleting playlists does not delete the songs listed in it.
A song can belong to more than one playlist.
When you are listening to music the navigation button provides controls.
- up and down take you to the previous and next tracks
- left and right turn the volume up and down
- the centre of the navigation button pauses and restarts playback
When you have finished with the music player choose Back and finally Exit with the right Selection key.
