Set up speed dial on the N70
Sandra Vogel
Set up speed dialling and you can place calls to your nearest and dearest with just two clicks
If you are the kind of person that has a few people you call regularly, then boost your productivity by setting up speed dials on your N70
Speed dials are really useful. Set them up and you can place calls to your nearest and dearest with just a couple of button presses. Don’t set them up and you are left with two options: looking numbers up in your phone’s contact book every time you use them, or, if you are clever enough to memorise them, laboriously tapping them out on the keypad.
Before we set up a speed dial let’s make sure they are actually activated on the Nokia N70.
- Press the Nokia Menu key to the left of the 1 and 2 keys and select Tools (see figure 1)
- Use the navigation key to find Settings and press its centre to select this (figure 2)
- Use the navigation key to find Call and press its centre to select this (figure 3)
- Use the left and right of the navigation key to move through the settings groups till ‘Call settings’ is highlighted
- Use the navigation key to move down to where it says ‘Speed dialling’. If it does not say ‘on’ click to turn it on (figure 4)
- Choose Back with the right select key and keep pressing the right select key till you are at the phone’s main screen
The 1 key is reserved for voicemail, but you can assign all the keys between 2 and 9 to speed dialling.
- Press the Nokia Menu key to the left of the 1 and 2 keys then select Tools (figure 5)
- Use the navigation key to find Speed dial and press its centre to select this (figure 6)
- Use the navigation key to scroll to the key you want to assign and choose Options with the left select key, then choose Assign (figure 7)
- The contacts book will open. Scroll to the person you want to assign the speed dial to and choose Select with the left select key. Confirm that you want to choose the phone number shown by choosing Select with the left select key (figure 8). The person’s name will appear where the speed dial number was before (figure 9). Choose Exit with the right select key.
- Come back to this point if you want to delete a speed dial. Highlight the number, choose Options then choose Remove
Now when you want to dial that speed dial from the phone’s main screen, press the speed dial number then the call key.
