Providing a full Qwerty keyboard at your fingertips, the Nokia E63 is built for a high quality messaging experience.
Whether you want to set up the phone for business or personal use, or both, it's easy to configure the phone to receive and send email from your regular office or home email accounts.
Usefully, the Nokia E63 has an email wizard installed to make it simple to set up your email accounts on the phone. With it, you can easily set up business accounts such as Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange, or from web-based email accounts such as Google email accounts, or email provided by your internet service provider.
Setting up email
- From your home screen, scroll down to highlight Set up e-mail (Figure 1). Press the central navigation pad to select.
- Highlight Start e-mail setup (Figure 2). Press Select.
- A message appears informing you that information is needed to activate existing mailboxes (Figure 3). Press Start.
- A message appears informing you that a network connection is needed and asking to allow automatic connection during activation (Figure 4). Press Yes.
- Highlight E-mail (Figure 5). Press Select.
- Type your full email address in to the panel (Figure 6). Press OK.
- Type your email account password in to the panel (Figure 7). Press OK.
- Your email settings are now defined. A message appears confirming that the wizard has been completed (Figure 8). Press OK.
- You are automatically taken into your Messaging menu (Figure 9). Here you can compose a new message or look at your mailbox.
- To view email messages, scroll down to highlight the email account you have defined (in this example 'Yahoo') (Figure 10). Press the navigation pad to select.
- Initially, the mailbox will be empty. You are asked: Connect to mailbox? (Figure 11). Press Yes.
- In a few moments you will be connected to the mailbox and a list of messages will appear onscreen (Figure 12). Scroll down to highlight emails you want to open. Press the navigation pad to select.
- The message downloads and appears onscreen, with full subject and sender details and any attachments (Figure 13).
- Scroll down to read the full message (Figure 14).
- To open an attachment, highlight it and press the navigation pad to select (Figure 15). Highlight the attachment and press select (Figure 16).
- The attachment opens (Figure 17).
Replying to or forwarding email
Like your regular desktop email, you can reply to emails, forward them, edit them before sending, send with attachments and so on.
- If the message is open, you can reply by pressing Options. Highlight Reply and press Select (Figure 18).
- Highlight To sender and press Select (Figure 19).
- Alternatively, if you want to forward the email, in the Options list, select that option. Whether replying to or forwarding an email, the basic procedure is similar, although forwarding you need to add an email address.
- You are taken into a message template with the original subject and message showing (Figure 20).
- Amend or clear any parts of the email you wish, and type in your own message (Figure 21). Scroll up to the To: panel to make amendments to the recipient's email address or to add any other addresses.
- To add pictures or other files as attachments, press Options, highlight Insert and press Select (Figure 22). You are offered a selection of options from which you can choose a file to attach (Figure 23).
- Highlight the option you require, press Select, and continue to browse until you find the image or other file you wish to attach (Figure 24). Press Insert to attach it.
- Once you are happy with your message, press Options and press Send (Figure 25).
Creating a new email
It's very easy to compose and send a new email with the Nokia E63.
- Press and hold the E-mail key (marked with an envelope icon), to the right of the navigation pad (Figure 26). (A short press of this key takes you straight into your default mailbox.)
- An email message template appears (Figure 27).
- Fill in the recipient, subject and message by selecting the appropriate fields, and add any attachments as before (Figure 28).
- When you have completed your email, press Options. Highlight Send and press Select (Figure 29). Your message is sent.
