"When you’re spending a lot of money on a phone, you should expect a 3.5mm jack port and a regular charger connection so that you can listen to music while the phone is charging, so this is a major omission for the 8800 Arte. On top of that, the battery life is poor and there’s no memory card slot. However, even with the price tag, it’s hard not to be attracted to this, admittedly, heavy lump of metal and glass."

“For such an expensive handset, we expected something special. Overall, we were disappointed. Using premium materials is always a good thing, but it should really be followed by premium features; frankly, we don't think the Arte has them. The Nokia 8800 Arte may have no-nonsense aspirations, but it's just not very sensiblet.”

“It's Nokia's most exclusive phone to date, and you won't see many of these on the street. The 8800 Arte is crafted from premium materials, and should be considered as a luxury item, not a tech gadget or a workhorse phone. Still, it has 3G, a 3 megapixel camera, and a music player, as well as making you look good while you're making calls. But if you have to ask the price, then it's not the right phone for you!”

“For all of Nokia's efforts to brand the Arte and Arte Sapphire as high class mobiles there simply isn't enough here to justify the price. Distortion from the loudspeaker, a below par camera, no front camera for two-way video calls, and the S40 OS with its reasonable but not wonderful set of features are not top-notch specifications.”

“From the illuminated keypad, to the precision glass and metal body and matching headset, the Nokia 8800 oozes quality. It's the Audi R8 of the celluar chic parade. Good looking, instantly desirable and frighteningly expensive.”

“Nokia has used premium materials that give a reassuringly expensive, high quality – and weighty – feel to these devices. The design is understatedly elegant too. The under-the-bonnet features run-down wouldn’t convince us to spank our credit card, however. They have a reasonable set of functions, but most of these you can get on other Nokia Series 40 phones at half the price.”
