Disable Active Standby on the Nokia 6288
How to disable the Active Standby feature which may appear by default on Nokia 6288 mobile phones and clutter up the desktop with unwanted stuff
Active standby works like a Windows PC's active desktop, giving you quick access to your five favourite applications via shortcuts on your Nokia 6288's standby screen. You can view calendar events and place reminders and to-do notes on your desktop too.
Some Nokia 6288s loaded with network providers' settings have Active standby selected by default. If you find the icons and text a little cluttered and in the way of your themed wallpaper, you can easily revert to the standard desktop mode and use the six selection keys menu on the front of the slider for fast access to applications, settings and web pages.
To deactivate Active standby, click Menu, select Settings, click Select, choose Display and click Select again. Highlight Standby mode settings and click Select. My active standby will be selected under Active standby.
To change this, highlight Active Standby and click Select. Scroll up to highlight Off, and click Select. You'll see the message 'Active standby off'. Click the red End key to return to your desktop.
