Nokia is working on a mid-range Lumia 830 Windows Phone 8 handset

Nokia is working on another Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia model, according to leaked information and pictures out of China.

Appearance-wise the handset looks more like the Lumia 920 flagship than the Lumia 820 to us, although it’s difficult to get a sense of scale from the pictures we expect it won’t be as large as Nokia’s premium model.

So far, we know it’ll come in red, black, yellow, white and green.

There aren’t any specs at present, in fact details generally are quite sparse, but according to WPDang, the site where the pictures originated, the Lumia 830 will pick up where the Windows Phone 7-powered Lumia 710 left off, suggesting it’ll be a mid-range model.

The Lumia 510 is expected to be the budget model on Windows Phone 7.8.

Looking at what the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 have in terms of hardware we can hazard a guess that the Lumia 830 will feature a dual core Qualcomm S4 processor, likely with 1GB of RAM.

Storage might well take a hit to keep costs down and could be around the 8GB mark, perhaps exapandable with MicroSD. Something like a 5-megapixel camera seems probable.

Hopefully Nokia will lift the lid on the rest of the handset’s features fairly soon. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
