How to get the most out of the Motorola RIZR's camera
The Motorola RIZR is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera capable of taking still pictures and videos.
No mobile phone is complete without a camera with which to take pictures and videos. The Motorola RIZR ’s 2-megapixel camera allows you to easily and quickly take snaps and store them on either the phone itself or its memory card.
To turn on the camera, either press the Camera button (A small black button halfway up the left-hand side of the phone).
Alternatively, press The Central Navigation Button, then Multi Media (Figure 1) and then Camera (Figure 2).
The picture camera
When the camera viewfinder is active (Figure 3), you are ready to take a picture. But before this, spend a few seconds to use the navigation buttons to quickly adjust the picture and make sure it’s the best possible quality:
- By pressing UP and Down on the navigation buttons you can choose Zoom, Lighting Conditions, Exposure and Style (Figure 4).
- On each of these options, by pressing Left and Right you can then change the Zoom (x1-x4), Lighting (e.g. automatic, sunny, indoor (Home/office), night), Exposure (-2 to 2), and Style (e.g. colour, black&white, negative or colour-tinted).
You can also press Options to open the Pictures Menu, which takes you to the following options (Figure 5):
- Go To Pictures – This lets you see stored pictures.
- Go To Video Mode – Switch to the video camera.
- Light On - This option turn the Flash on
- Auto-Timed Capture – Set a timer for the camera to take a photo after pressing Capture (Either five or 10 seconds) (Figure 6).
- Camera Setup – Choose the resolution of your pictures - from X-Small (240x320) to Large (2-megapixel) - by highlighting Resolution and pressing Change. You can also choose the image quality (To Good, Better or Best), and change the Shutter Tone to either none or one of five options (Figure 7).
- Switch Storage Device – Choose where to store pictures, either on your phone and your memory card. N.B. high-resolution pictures (1.2-megapixel) can only be stored on the memory card.
- View Free Space – How much memory remains for storing pictures.
Taking a picture
When the camera is turned on, the screen acts as a viewfinder letting you see what it’s pointing at. To take a picture:

- Press The Central Navigation Button to take a photo.
- (Figure 8) You can either Send the photo, or press Options to access: Store Only, Discard, Apply As (Wallpaper, Screen Saver or Contact)(Figure 8) or Edit.
