Using voice commands on the KRZR
Chris Leonard
You can make calls and use some phone applications on your Motorola KRZR K1 without having to scroll through menus
The Motorola KRZR has a number of pre-set voice commands allowing you to use your phone simply by speaking into it, saving you time by not having to scroll through and click into menus.
Using voice commands you can make calls or send emails and voice messages to contacts in your Phonebook, and use certain applications including Camera, Voicemail, Redial and accessing Received Calls.
To use voice commands, press and release the Voice Key (The long silver button on the right-hand side of the keypad). By saying certain commands or stored Phonebook names and numbers into the phone, the Motorola KRZR will either open that application or make a call.
Choice Lists
If the Motorola KRZR does not recognise your voice command it will ask you to repeat what you have said. If it does not recognise the name or number you said when Voice or Digit dialling, it will display a list of options and speak each one in turn, asking if you meant it. Say “Yes” to make the call, or “No” to move onto the next choice.
Setting up voice commands
You can setup your Motorola KRZR voice commands by pressing and releasing the Voice Key then press Settings (Figure 1) to access the following menu:
- Choice Lists – This turns them on/off (See above)(Figure 2).
- Sensitivity – Make the phone more or less likely to reject a voice command (Figure 3).
- Digit Dialling – Train the Motorola KRZR to recognise how you say digits (Figure 4).
- Sound – Adjust the sound settings (Figure 5).
Make calls with voice commands
The Motorola KRZR allows you to use voice commands to make calls to people in your Phonebook. You can either Name Dial by speaking the contact’s name or Digit Dial by speaking out each digit of a phone number. To make a call:
- Press and release the Voice Key and your phone will prompt you to speak a command (Figure 1).
- There are several commands you can give:
“Call [Either Digits or Phonebook name]”
“Send Email [Phonebook name]”
“Send Voice Note [Phonebook name]”
“Send Message [Either Digits or Phonebook name]”
“Lookup [Phonebook entry]”
“Go To [Voicemail/ Camera/ Redial/ Received Calls]”
“Check [Status/ Battery/ Signal/ Network/ My Phone Number]”
- If your phone recognises your command it will follow it (Figure 6).
