Apogee's 1995 hit Rise of the Triad is coming to iPhone, complete with the original levels and soundtrack

Rise of the Triad, a first person shooter originally released in 1995, is coming to iPhone. It'll be a faithful port of the original, as demonstrated in the video preview of the game, which you can watch below.
The iPhone Rise of the Triad features 32 levels spread over four episodes, and five different characters to choose from, each with their own strengths. The music score sounds just like it did back in 1995 too.
Back in 1995, Rise of the Triad was a little late to the FPS party to be considered an all-time classic, as it was seen as making only slight changes to the Doom formula – and Doom was released two years earlier in 1993. However, it was one of the first 3D shooters to allow you to look up and down, allowing for more dynamic use of three-dimensional environments.
On the less serious side, Rise of the Triad is also chock-full of ridiculous missile weapons – probably the main thing we’re looking forward to checking out again on iPhone. We’ll let you know when the game’s finally released.
