The man behind Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger is now working on an iPhone game with his studio Mistwalker

Published on Jan 5, 2010

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the man behind the Final Fantasy series, has revealed that he’s working on an iPhone game with his production company Mistwalker.

In recent years, Mistwalker has produced Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey on other formats – two of the most popular roleplaying games on the Xbox 360. On the Mistwalker blog, Sakaguchi revealed the plans for this new project, alongside a larger-scale one that we assume will be for console or PC.

This won’t be the first time a roleplaying heavyweight has made its first steps onto the App Store – Square Enix has already released several games. However, Sakaguchi’s links to several important franchises make this announcement all the more exciting, not to mention the fact that Mistwalker is a design studio rather than a great big publisher.

We’ll let you know more on Mistwalker’s iPhone game as soon as we hear anything.
